Mrs. Roxanne Moore Rector 74, of Cary, NC, died on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Crabtree Valley Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Raleigh, NC, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Rector was a daughter of the late Joseph Hilary Moore and Addie Cooke Moore. Roxanne was a loving, caring, generous person who had a smile and kind word for everyone. She was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Rev. Charles Rector, who was a Southern Baptist minister. Together they served churches in North Carolina and Virginia. She and Charlie enjoyed their 10 years at the Asheville Farmers Market meeting people and operating their business, "Smoky Mountain Creations." In addition to her sister, Brenda Moore Roberson and her husband Terry Roberson, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Flo Ella Sharpe. Also surviving are her niece, Amy Roberson Glover (Michael) and nephew, Charles Roberson (Tammy); niece, Kim Harbin (Larry) and nephew, Charles David Sharp (Debbie); two great-nieces and two great-nephews. Her family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. A graveside service will follow at Newfound Baptist Church Cemetery at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Ray Hipps officiating. Memorials may be made to Transitions LifeCare, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC 27607-6372, or to the Broyhill Baptist Children's Home of NC, 111 Sneed Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
