Services for Rory Chip Phillips, 20, who died Sunday, July 19, 1998, will be held 3 pm Wednesday in the Pole Creek Baptist Church. The Revs. Dennis Thurman, G.W. Jameson and Tim Moore are officiating. Burial will be in the Pisgah View Memorial Park.
Rory was a 1996 graduate of Enka High School, excelling in athletics and leadership, and was a rising junior at N.C. State University in Raleigh. He was a dynamic Christian leader, a loving son and brother and a friend to all.
He is survived by his parents, Royce and Gwenda Smith Phillips; two brothers, Tyson Phillips and his wife Kelly of Candler, Logan Phillips of Candler; paternal grandmother, Mary Lou Phillips; maternal grandparents, Archie and Gelene Smith and his girl friend, Lacy Sebring.

Rori will always hold a special place in my heart. He was cherished by so many. There are very few young adults that I have met through my walk in college life that could hold an influence on others lifes like he did. What a role model he was to all. The hurt of our loss will forever remain within me. I miss him dearly, but I rejoice that he is surely so happy and blessed now in our Father’s heavenly home. My love to Royce, Gwenda, Logan, Tyson and Kelly.
