Roma Maxine Blankenship Hyatt of Charlotte, NC went to her eternal home on November 2, 2022.
Born August 8, 1935 in Stecoah, NC to George Arthur and Effie Mae Blankenship, Maxine was the second to the youngest of their 11 children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Dianne Schronce, her husband, Franklin Plott Hyatt, along with 10 of her siblings: Herbert Ray Blankenship, Woodrow Wilson Blankenship, George Carl Blankenship, Edna Pearleen Gosnell, Willa Faye Fister, Gladys Leona Hensley, Ollie Mae Sizemore, Bonnie Marie Arrowood, Ramona Evelyn Cable Smith and Jewell Marcella Blankenship Mimms.
She is survived by her son, David Keith Gribble (Ann), her daughter, Deborah Lynne Marcum (Frank), along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Maxine was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, church, and community. She worked for over 25 years at American Enka Corporation. When she retired, she was happy to have more time to treasure her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Her hands were rarely still even then, for she loved to bake her pound cakes for the church, tend to the garden around her home, and write down the lyrics to every Christian song she heard. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her wit, charm, grace and love for them.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Words of Life Tabernacle in Arden, NC. The funeral will follow at 2:00 pm and she will be placed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka-Candler, NC.
