Asheville has lost a fine artist, as well as a fine man. Our condolences.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bob last year, because I worked for him helping him out with some cooking and cleaning. He was probably one of the nicest people I have ever met, he is so sweet and genuine, and I love his innocence and concern for other people. Heaven gained a great man when he died. I loved him so much, and he was so unbelievebly good to me, and such an amazing person!!
Jeff and Kelly,
I am so sorry for the loss of your father, and of your mother a little while back. Your parents were always the kindest, most loving, people, the best example of Christ that I ever knew. I will always remember their warm greetings, open hearts, and gentle kindnesses.
Please know that you are with me in my prayers.
Regards,
Wesley Satterwhite

Gail and Jeff…Our prayers are with you during this time of your life. Bob was a good friend and will be missed by us all but most of all his family.
He is now free from all his pain.
Gail & Jeff; I was saddened to read about Bob. He, and your mom, were good friends of mine, as are you both. I’ll be unable to attend the service, due to other commitments on Fridays. However, I’ll be thinking about all you. May God be with you, in these days.
Gail and Jeff, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your families will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Deepest sympathy,
Nancy and Lewis Bryan

I first met Bob Collins when I was a sophomore in high school as a part-time correspondent for the Asheville Times. Bob was managing editor at that time. I was a teenager – didn’t even have my driver’s license yet, and many in the newsroom wondered ‘who hired this kid.’ But not Bob. He treated me as the same as if I had a journalism degree from Columbia University.
When we organized the WNC High School Journalism Association at Reynolds High School, Bob was one of the first to agree to come and share his knowledge and experience with high school journalists from all over WNC.
Bob’s brand of journalism – just the facts, not the newspaper or writers’s biased opinions – is sorely missed in today’s media.
Jeff and Gail, my thoughts and prayers are with you. Bob will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
To Jeff and the rest of the Collins’family.
I saw today online that Mr. Collins had passed away a few days ago. Just wanted to let you know I’m thinking about you and praying for you. I know he’ll be greatly missed. It’s only a temporary seperation.
