My deepest sympathies to the family. Bob was a super guy loved by me and all the kids in the neighborhood! May he rest peace.
Susie, I am not sure you remember me but we were good friends in the Biltmore neighborhood and Biltmore School in the 50’s and 60’s. So sorry to hear about your Dad. He had a long life and I trust it was great. My mom passed at the age of 98 last July.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family
Susie, Cindy and family
You have my heartfelt condolence in the loss of your dad. I have fond memories of Bob from my childhood and as an adult our Marine “sea story” talks were really special. We had one of my most memorable talks when I brought him a bottle of sand I collected on Iwo Jima. A true unsung hero that will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Your Dad could tell some of the funniest jokes and some of the worst puns with a straight face. The only thing that gave him away was the twinkle in his eyes! After your Mom’s passing, he was just lost and not up to par; worn out. It took his family being there on a daily basis to get his heart beating again and the twinkle back in his eyes. Thank you for the care and companionship you all gave him. Gerry was spellbound by his tales from the Pacific and I enjoyed seeing the picture Mr. Cecil, owner of the Biltmore Estate, took of your Dad when he was repairing the fountain in front of the Biltmore house. What a varied life he had! An inspiration.
