Richard William Post

Fletcher – Richard William Post, 77, of Fletcher, died Monday, January 1, 2024 at Mission Hospital.

A native of Cleveland, OH, he was a son of the late William and Irene Post. Richard was also preceded in death by a son, Richard Post, Jr., who died in 2022 as well as a sister, Doris Post Myer.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; a son, Christopher Post (Kaci) of Brevard, NC; a daughter, Karen Ploch (Michael) of Waxhaw, NC; a brother, William Post of Casa Grande, AZ as well as seven grandchildren, Nicholas, Jacob, Adelaide, Avery, McKinley, Isabelle and John.

At the age of six, Richard’s family moved to Hollywood, FL. He graduated from McArthur High School in 1964 and married the love of his life, Peggy, in 1970. After having three children, they relocated to the Orlando area, where they continued to raise their family. Throughout his career, Richard worked in the utility industry. In 1985, he opened his own private utility service company. He sold his company in 2005 and retired to Western North Carolina. A music lover his whole life, Richard also enjoyed golf and fishing. He loved cheering for the Florida Gators on Saturdays and the Miami Dolphins on Sundays, surrounded by his football loving family. Richard was an active member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 8, 2024 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church with Father Adrian Porras officiating. A Rosary will be said at the church Monday at 10:30 AM prior to the Mass. Burial will follow at Calvary Churchyard.
