Richard Glen Hawkins, 45, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at Mission Hospital. Born in Buncombe County, he was preceded in death by his parents Mack Doff Hawkins and Helen June Hawkins, his brother, Mack Hawkins, his aunt and uncle, Paul and Nell Hawkins, and his mother-in-law, Lynne Sawyer Roberts. He had worked with Eaton Corp. for 26 years and he loved his family and his farm. He is survived by his wife, Maylynn Roberts Hawkins; step-son, Kelly Roberts (Mykyla); and father-in-law, David Roberts. He leaves behind a loving family and many, many friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Turkey Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. Ricky Townsend and Larry Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.   7. So sad to hear of Richard’s passing. He was class of 1988 Erwin High School classmate and always a good guy.

  8. Richard was a friend that no matter how long it had been since you seen each other it was easy to pick back up and laugh just like old times. I know his family was waiting with open arms. I had known him since kindergarten . Hard to believe he’s gone. Praying God helps to ease your sorrow.

  9. Such a joy he was. From the little boy I’m Sunday school and bible school oh so many years ago. Everyone loved Buster as he grew up . I never seen him that we didn’t hug be so glad to see each other and say we loved rach other. Richard you were special and a good friend to all. I know his Nell and Paul will have such a reunion along the banks of Jordan. I pray for strength and the arms of God around his wife and family.

  11. I am sorry for your loss. My condolances to you and your family. I graduated high school with Richard. He was a gun loving person with lots of laughter.

  13. So sorry for your loss Maylynn. May God’s eternal love bless you and the family during this difficult time. Richard and I grew up together and he will be dearly missed. Lots of childhood memories of him and our graduating classmates.

  14. May God provide you and your family with peace and ‘the comfort from the Scriptures’? during this difficult time. (Romans 15:4) The Bible shares a wonderful resurrection hope for future. I pray that you find comfort in the wonderful promises of John 5:28, 29 and Acts 24:15.
