Rebecca "Becky" Sharpe O'Kelley

rebecca o'kelley

December 19, 1959 ~ March 12, 2025

Born in: Enoree, SC
Resided in: Fletcher, NC

Rebecca “Becky” Sharpe O’Kelley, 65, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.

Becky was born in Enoree, SC to the late John Leslie and Ruth Goodwin Sharpe. She graduated from Enka High School and Western Carolina University.

Being a wife, mother and grandmother was what Becky cherished above all else and the role that she held most dear. She loved being a stay-at-home mom while her children were growing up. She worked at Suntrust/Truist Bank later on in life.

Becky was truly one of a kind. Exquisite and unique – she loved paving her own path and walking to the beat of her own drum. In addition to spoiling her family, she loved talking to her grandbabies, rocking them to sleep, eccentric adjectives, summers at Myrtle Beach, seventies music, sweet tea and Sun Drop, slow southern drawls, clean cotton candles and turning on lamps at sunset. She is and will always be adored and cherished beyond words for the unparalleled light she shed and the never ending love and sweetness she radiated.

Becky is survived by the other half to her whole, her husband of 41 years; Steven O’Kelley, who she met at Enka High School when she was only 16. She is also survived by a daughter, Erin O’Kelley Pittenger and her husband, Brock; a son, Dillon O’Kelley; four grandchildren that think she hung the moon: Erin’s children: Knox, Beckett and Leighton Belle; Dillon’s daughter, Kennedy, and Becky’s sisters, Crystal Sharpe of Moore, SC and Julia Sharpe of Candler, NC.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 at 3:00 PM at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church in Candler, NC.

  14. I am so sorry to hear of Becky’s passing. I was a middle school friend of Erin’s and have some of the best middle school memories of coming over to the house and Becky being there with a warm smile and a big hug. She truly was a beautiful soul and she loved fiercely. Love and prayers with the whole family, having just lost my dad a few months ago you all are in my heart. Hold each other close. Grieve slowly and on your own terms. Remember the love she showed and carry that with you always.

  17. When I was fortunate to be in Becky’s teller line at Truist, she was so friendly and interesting to talk with. She took great care of her customers, and I considered her a friend as well as a banker. Through her I was able to share local history with her family, and I always love passing on information about the old days in Henderson County. I still find it shocking that she won’t be in the bank with her co-workers (who also thought of her as a friend).

  18. Steve and family: My deepest sympathy for the loss of your wife! She is a beautiful woman! May God bless you with strength and comfort during this time. He will be there for you!
    Susan Perry Partain

  23. I am so sorry for your loss! What a beautiful person inside and out. I knew Becky from all the Suntrust banks she was at she joked about me moving everytime she relocated. When I moved to hendersonville it was a joy to see her. May God bring you peace.

  24. I met Becky years ago working retail in the Asheville Mall. What a sweet, fun, happy lady. She was a pleasure to be with. I am sorry for your loss.

  25. I met Becky at Suntrust /Truist years ago in Hendersonville. I don’t kno how this started , crazy me. I went to collecting old money. I mentioned this to Becky and I give her my cell number when she would luck up
on the old bills. This went from her to the other tellers and went on for years. She would send me a text and had a old bill saved for me. I didn’t get there in time.. Becky, will be missed and her nice way of greeting me and other people at Truist. Who would have thought this. I try to live life and leaving my friends each time with a good feeling , until I see them next time. I didn’t realize this was the last time , I wouldn’t get to see Becky’s smiling face again and always greeting me ,
” Hello Buck”. how are you. I was always grumbling about my back. This is beyond being missed, I always looked for Becky. She always looked top drawer and smiling face , a joy
to meet . Thanks for the
    memories “becca”

  26. Steve and family hugs and prayers to you during this time. I met Becky at Truist! She was such a sweet soul and an amazing coworker! She brought such a light to us everyday and I loved her outlook on life, her stories, her hacks for all kinds of things around the house, and her humor! I loved our Saturdays together holding the fort down at Truist! It was a short time I knew Becky but it felt like I had known her forever. I will forever cherish her memory and spirit!

  27. I am going to miss seeing her sweet face at the bank. She always had a smile on her face. God bless you all.

  28. Steve, I was so saddened to learn of Becky’s sudden passing. I pray the Lord will give you and your beautiful family strength, peace and healing now and always.
