Arden – Raye McKinney, 74, passed away on Wednesday, Sep. 5, 2012. He was a native of Buncombe County, the son of the late Ernest and Ruth Crandall McKinney and was also preceded in death by four sisters. He was retired from ABF Trucking and was a veteran of the US Army.
He is survived by his wife, Jewell P. McKinney; two daughters, Angela McKinney-McNeil and Cynthia McKinney; three granddaughters, Jacqueline, Samantha and Allison and four sisters, Faye Dalton, Catherine Blankenship, Lucille Orr and Doris Tallent.
A funeral service is scheduled for 2:30 Saturday at Long Shoals Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.

i want to thank everyone for their prayers and support through this most difficult time.my father was a wonderful person who truly cared and loved all his frends,co=workers, and famiy. i also want to thank Mr.Bill Groce personally for his kindness and the wonderful service he was able to help me have for my father. we are all home now resting. thanks so much to everyone for attending also.
