Phyllis Metcalf

Phyllis Metcalf, 60, passed away February 22, 2023.

Mrs. Metcalf was born in Henderson County to the late Frank and Zelda Mae Davis Mathis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Metcalf who passed on June 9, 2021; three sisters, Patricia Baldwin, Carolyn Davis and Juanita Lanning and six brothers, Dennis Mathis, Carmel Mathis, Philip Mathis, Oden Edmonds, Roger Edmonds and Nehemiah Edmonds.

Phyllis loved being at home with her family. She enjoyed singing in church when she was little and she loved being with Eddie when he would work on cars.

Phyllis and Eddie married on December 12, 1980. They raised seven children together; Virginia Hartle (John), Linda Hoglen (Timothy), Eddie Metcalf (Lynn), Adam Metcalf, Desirae Metcalf, Rowdy Wiles, and Moses Wiles; She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Jessica Hoglen, Elizabeth Carpenter, Timothy Hoglen II, Brandon Hartle, Jordan Metcalf, Jeremiah Metcalf, Dakota Surrett, Logan Surrett and Macee Surrett; two great grandchildren, Navhia Rose Metcalf and Khiaus King Metcalf and three sisters, Susan Dixon, Barbara Kilby, Frankie Covington.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian with Pastor Phillip Youngblood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Hoopers Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
