Peggy Jean Towe Cox, 76, of 31 Braddock Way, Asheville, died of complications of pneumonia on Tuesday, Nov. 30, at Park Ridge Hospital in Fletcher, NC. A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, Dec. 2, at 11 a.m. at Groce Funeral Home Chapel at Lake Julian on Long Shoals Road. The Rev. Keith Turman, pastor of Skyland United Methodist Church, will be the officiating minister. The family will receive friends at Groce immediately after the service. Peggy was born on April 13, 1934, in Asheville, one of 11 children to the late Charles and Eva Towe. She was a graduate of Valley Springs High School, Skyland, NC, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Skyland United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Alex, Mac and John Towe and sisters Mildred Cochrane, Ailene Mallory, Maxine Sizemore, Margaret Sparks and Louise Tomberlin. Surviving are her husband of 58 years, John William Cox, of the home; a daughter, Jenny Klein, of Asheville; a son, Tyler Cox, of Winston-Salem; a sister, Barbara Metcalf, of Brevard; a grandson, Nicholas Lindsay, of Raleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews. A person of strong faith, Peggy greatly loved her family and took much delight in sharing their accomplishments and successes. Her husband, children and grandson were the most important people in her life. She was a positive support to all who knew her. She was a kind person, always putting others' needs above her own. She was much loved and will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Progressive Education Program, 250A Overlook Road, Asheville, NC 28803.
