pearl brigman

January 8, 1939 ~ December 31, 2022

Born in: Asheville, NC
Resided in: Lawrenceville, GA

Pearl Sherlin Brigman went peacefully in her sleep unexpectedly on Saturday, December 31, 2022.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Pearl was known to be the matriarch of her family! She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, James Brigman; her parents, Kenneth Anderson Sherlin and Mary Elizabeth Shipley Sherlin; sister, Rosalie Sherlin Brigman; and brothers, Jr Sherlin, Jimmy Sherlin, and Bobby Sherlin.

Born in Asheville, NC, she and her husband, James, moved to Ohio where they raised their three children. They later moved to Florida where they lived for over 30 years. They then returned to Whittier, NC, until James’s death. Pearl’s last years were spent living with her family in Georgia.

She worked in banking for over 20 years, was a seamstress and later retired as a support staff member for the Lee County, FL, School District.

Even though Pearl lived with her daughters, her independence was a quality admired by many. She spent her days coloring, embroidering, sewing, and doing puzzles. Pearl was greatly loved by her family and friends. Her stories and sayings were always the highlight at family gatherings. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her son, Dennis (Sue) Brigman, of Live Oak, FL; daughters, Marie (Bob) McClelland, of Ball Ground, GA, and Phyllis (Jim) Crider, of Lawrenceville, GA; five grandchildren, Jennifer (Kevin) Allen, of Vero Beach, FL, Rob (Michele) McClelland, of Ranger, GA, Katie (Jason) Tredway, of Sugar Hill, GA, Amy (Teddy) Ferrell, of Vero Beach, FL and JC (Jessina) Crider, of Ft. Myers, FL; and six great-grandchildren, Bailey, Payton, Julia, Brody, Landon, and Mason.

The funeral service will be held at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. on Thursday, January 5, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Green Hills Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
