Asheville - Paul Theodore Williams, 97, of 375 Mills Gap Road, died Tuesday, February 11, 2003. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he was a son of the late Abraham and Ina Morrison Williams. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Walter R. and Dwayne R. Williams; a son-in-law, Max Suttles; two sisters and five brothers. He was a self-employed lumber and pulpwood contractor. Mr. Williams is survived by his wife of 74 years, Thelma Long Williams; three daughters, Peggy J. Grooms, and her husband Clyde, of Skyland, Patsy J. Johnson, and her husband Buck, of Marion and Eunice M. Suttles of Marion; a son, Alton G. Williams, and his wife Beverly, of Etowah; three sisters, Aileen Brown of Candler, Catherine Baldwin and Dorothy Summey, both of Asheville; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the New Salem Cemetery conducted by the Reverend Leonard Cole. Grandsons will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 pm Friday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the residence on Mills Gap Road.
