Resided in:
Asheville, NC
Our precious mother departed this earthly existence, and Heaven became a little sweeter.
Patricia Allen Brewer Grant, 83, of 609 Woodfield Drive, Asheville, peacefully slipped out of this world Friday, April 26, 2013, at her home.
Born in Sylva and raised in these wonderful mountains of W.N.C., Pat was a daughter of the late Cary Walter Allen and Dorcas Fisher Allen Williams. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Donald Wilson Brewer, and by a daughter, Patricia Suzanne Brewer.
Pat was a proud member of the class of '48 at Lee H. Edwards High School and continued a lifelong fellowship with her classmates, always looking forward to the next class reunion or picnic. She also attended Asheville-Biltmore College.
In her career she worked a short time with the FBI in Washington, DC. She also worked a number of years in the Human Resources Department of Singer-Kearfott.
But the greatest work in her life was watching over and loving her entire family.
Surviving are a daughter, Beth Fender of Asheville; two sons, Donald Brewer of Watauga, TX and Michael Brewer and wife Lisa, of Clemmons; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; also her wonderful and loving brothers and sister, Judge C.W. Allen and wife, Mary Frances, Samuel Williams, and Laura Taylor and husband, John.
Pat was a wonderful caring woman who loved and cared for her family. She had a passion for life and enjoyed the fellowship of life with friends and family. Her happiest times were spent in the company of the ones she loved and the peace of her flowers and plants.
The family expresses gratitude and love to our mother's wonderful caregivers during these closing months: Marty, Roberta, Rachael, Lisa, Kathy and all the wonderful staff of CarePartners/John F. Keever Solace Center. Our journey was made lighter by the love and compassion you showed.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home.
Flowers will be appreciated because Pat so loved gardening and had such a green thumb, or memorials may be made to the John F. Keever, Jr., Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
The family welcomes visitors at the residence, 609 Woodfield Drive, Asheville.
The on-line register is available at grocefuneralhome.com.

Dear Brewer Family,
I didn’t know your Mom, but she sounded like a wonderful lady, and I do know that she had to be a great Mom, because of knowing the young people she sent to AC Reynolds for us to teach and work with. May you cherish the many fond memories you have of her, keep them close to your heart and she will be with you always. My prayer is that God will give you peace and grace to face the days ahead without your Mom’s love.
Love in Christ,
‘Jake’

I’m so very sorry for the loss of you mother. Please take comfort in the bible’s promise of a time when tears, death and pain will be no more. (Rev.21:3,4) May Jehovah God give you strength to endure this difficult time.
I am sorry to hear about your mom. I worked at Kearfott with your mom for many years. She was a great person and helped many people at the plant, me included. I know you will miss her. My prayers are with your family at this time.
