Nelson Triplett Almond, 81, of Leicester, passed away Sunday, July 7th, 2024 at Mission Hospital.

Nelson was born on May 1, 1943 in Asheville, NC and was the son of the late Howard Nelson Almond and Merton Lunsford Almond Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, Sherrill Baxter Brown, a sister, Nancy Brown King, and a great-niece, Anna Brooks.

He graduated in 1963 from Asheville Biltmore College and in 1969 from Western Carolina University with a degree in Accounting. He was a Western North Carolina native and loved living in the mountains and spending time outside working in his yard. Above all else, he was a proud father and grandfather.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Almond Baird and husband, Doug of Fletcher and Lisa Almond Lancaster and husband, Ken of Bath; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Baird, Emily Grace Baird, and Nathaniel Douglas Baird; two sisters, Karen Almond Davis and husband, Robert of Gastonia and Barbara Brown Wells and husband, Keith of Leicester; and one brother, Grover Charlie Brown of Leicester. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 27th at the Leicester Episcopal Churchyard Cemetery with the Rev. Hunter Preston officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Leicester Episcopal Churchyard in care of Ivagene B Parham, 2698 New Leicester Highway, Leicester, NC 28748.
