Myra Barnett Crisp, 83, of Mills River, NC, went home to be with her Lord on January 24, 2026, following a period of declining health.
Myra was born on March 6, 1942. Growing up on a dairy farm, she learned early how to nurture, cultivate and serve. She was no stranger to hard work and sacrifice. Myra loved well and sacrificially, a devoted wife, mother and ‘Mimmie.’ She was a faithful friend and ‘mother’ to many, benefitting from the kind of lifelong friendships that resulted from living her entire life in her beloved Mills River community. Myra was a faithful member of Mills River United Methodist Church and an active participant in the life of her church.
Myra was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Jack Thomas Crisp, her parents, Robbie and Kathleen Barnett, and her dear sister, Linda Barnett Cowan. She is survived by three children, Pete Crisp of Fort Mill, SC, Kathy Crisp Clark (Tim) of Mars Hill, and Deron Crisp (Vickie) of Hendersonville. Myra was ‘Mimmie’ to six cherished grandchildren, Brittany Crisp Praytor (Matt), Rebecca Clark Ross (Daniel), Kyle Crisp (Charlotte), Cameron Crisp (Kelsey), Bailey Clark (Allie) and Logan Crisp (Kendyl). She loved being Mimmie to nine great-grandchildren, Bethany, Jake, Max, Zena, Rhett, Anderson, Ivy, Landon and Judson. Myra is also survived by nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own, Jill Cowan Gregg, Jan Cowan King, and Jimmy Cowan.
A Celebration of Life service is planned for Saturday, February 28, 2:00 p.m. at Mills River United Methodist Church; reception and receiving friends will follow in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Mills River Life Enrichment Center, 137 Old Turnpike Road, Mills River, NC 28759.
