Mildred Henderson Haney

Mildred Henderson Haney, 78, of Candler, died on Monday, October 29, 2012, at the Brian Center, in Weaverville. A native of Buncombe Co., Mrs. Haney was a daughter of the late Neese and Emma Mae Hall Henderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John A. Haney, who died in 1983, and by her brothers, Gerald and Harold Henderson. Mrs. Haney retired from BASF, and had most recently worked at J&S Cafeteria for nine years. In her spare time, she was an expert chocolate candy maker. Mrs. Haney is survived by her daughter, Donna Lee Haney Hooker of Asheville; son, Randy Thomas Haney, of Candler; grandchildren, Jason Michael, Jacob Matthew, and Jared Marshall Hooker, Eric Dwayne, Matthew Thomas and Rachel Marie Haney, and Katie Haney Warren; great-grandchildren, Eli and Malachi Haney; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for Mrs. Haney will be on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the Groce Funeral Home chapel on Patton Ave. with the Rev. Darrell Hannah officiating. Her family will receive friends following the service.
