Michael Ray Pruitt, 68, of Asheville, died Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Elizabeth House in Flat Rock.

Born in Buncombe County, he was the husband of Glenda (Cartwright) Pruitt, and the son of the late Willard James and Eveolean (Lamb) Pruitt.

Michael was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church, and he loved to fish and hunt.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his siblings: Theresa Wright, Sandra Emory and her husband David, Carolyn Barton, and Rev. Willard Pruitt and his wife Dorothy. He is also survived by Shanna Shelton, Bryson Shelton and the love of his life, his great-granddaughter Brilynn Shelton.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Chapel Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Willard Pruitt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends will be received at the church one hour prior to the service, from 1 to 2 PM.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is in charge of arrangements.

  14. I am so sorry to hear Mike has passed away. So glad he found the Lord. I too have been a Christian for 31 years. Guess I will see him in Heaven. We were married only a short time but he was a good guy.
