  7. Kristy, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember one time when Daddy (Jack) was being transferred. We were staying with Grandma and Grandpa and it snowed the night before we were to leave. Mike took Nancy, Ruth, and me out into the snow early that morning. He did not have gloves on but using his bare hands he showed us how to take a little snowball and roll it in the snow to create a large base. He continued until he had finished building an entire snowman for us. His hands must have been freezing! It is a memory I will always treasure. Mike will be sorely missed. My hope for you is that as time passes, you will continue to find new meaning to the life your father led.

  8. Dear Dixie and all the family,

  12. Kristy, Marsha we’re so grateful of your care with Uncle Mike. I know he was comforted by you both being by his side. God must have been looking out for us as he provided us the opportunity to take Mom to see Mike on Monday. It was a blessing to see him, hug him and tell him how much we love him. Our thoughts and prayers are with your families and ours as we share in our love and loss of a great man, a brother and uncle.

  13. Mike was like a father to me. I am fortunate to have many memories of him. I grew up with him and the gentlemen from the VFW club. When I was away in the military mike wrote to me and kept me laughing. It was an honor to have known him. I am sorry for your loss.

    My condolences for your loss.

  15. Prayers and thoughts for the whole family. Me and my husband Rick were friends with Mike during our years spent at the VFW. He was a wonderful and kindhearted man to all who met him. He always had a smile when you saw him.

  16. Mike was one of the best supporters of the Sons of Confederate Veterans and was active in the continuing effort to defend the honor of those veterans. I am thankful to have known him and worked with him on that effort. He was a good friend. I am saddened by his death.

  17. Kristy, Tony & I just found out about the death of Mike ! Tony & Mike were good friends thru the VFW. We used to go to all the conferences with him & Jane . We are so sorry to hear of his passing & wish we had know so we could attend his funeral. You have our love & prayers. Tony & Pat Taylor

  18. Hello. Mike was part of our combat veterans Peer Support Group at the Asheville VAMC , mental health clinic. He had taken a break and thus it was not until today during our Thursday support session (now due to covid-19 done over the phone) that Mike had passed February 2019. Had we known we would have attended Mike’s services. It was one of our recent new members who knew Mike who by chance informed us. Mike was a great guy and we will miss him very much. Is there anything we can do to honor Mike’s memory? God Bless.
