Eva Maureen Wooten Merrill, 83 went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
Mrs. Merrill was born in Buncombe County to the late Thomas L. Wooten and Beulah M. Cordell Wooten. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Becky Hunnicutt and Phyllis Morgan; two sisters, Patricia Darnell and Nancy Wright; two brothers, Thomas Wooten, Jr. and Jerry Wooten and a granddaughter, Beverly Mitchell.
Maureen was a member of Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church. She loved church and her church family. She enjoyed making quilts, sewing, cooking, flowers and her gospel tapes. She loved children and her family dearly and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Dennis Merrill; two children, Tharesa “Dean” Owenby and her husband, Max and Don Merrill and his wife, Susan; two sisters, Faye Pollard and Roma Earwood; six grandchildren, Pam, Tammy, Jennifer, Stephanie, Jessica and Steven and ten great grandchildren, Kelsey, Rachel, Katherine, Kristina, Treyton, Zeb, Anna, Juda, Gideon, and Eli.
A celebration of life service will be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Trinity of Fairview Church with Reverend Stacey Harris officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service at the Church.
A private family burial will be held the following day.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Trinity of Fairview Baptist Church, 646 Concord Rd, Fletcher, NC 28732
Mrs. Eva was a wonderful and very loving women, she always had a smile when I saw her and never said a harsh word. She will be greatly missed, The family is in my thoughts and prayers.- Mary Laws (Parkway Medical)
Maureen was a wonderful lady. She was so gifted in sewing. I know she will greatly missed. May the Lord’s peace and comfort be with all the family through this process, our prayers and support are with each and every one of you.
