Marylee Brown Penland

Marylee Arrowood Brown Penland, 89, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 18, 2014, at her home. Mrs. Penland was born in Leicester and was a daughter of the late Herb and Sally Jackson Arrowood. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerthie Brown and Clyde O. Penland, four brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Penland worked at American Enka for 18 years. She was also a member of Hominy Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery. Surviving are her daughter, Judith Brown Allen; step-daughter, Joyce Ingle; step-sons, Richard Brown and Frank Brown; sister, Ellen James; 14 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with burial to follow at Skyview Memorial Park. The Rev. Brian Hanrahan will officiate. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
