  9. Dear Sellers Family,

As I Remember Mrs Sellers from the time I was a small child, visiting on my fathers hand (George H. Knighten) at the Coin Shop, (beside the old Browns Groc) I recall her as a caring woman always with a smile. I was always cautioned by dad to be respectful and ‘look but don’t touch’ unless I was told it was ok. Mrs Sellers always made me feel welcome and told me to make myself at home. When my son Craig showed interest in collecting or simply ask what I did when I was a boy, I put him in the car and drove to the exact same location, to receive the same warm greeting that I did. Neither of us were disappointed on that or any subsequent trips. Having known Mr Sellers and all the Sellers ‘boys’, I was made to feel as if I was one of her boys. My older brother Charles likewise introduced his son Randy to ‘collecting’ at the hand of Sellers coin shop. Although dad went to Heaven in 1974 and mom (Annie) in 1987, Mrs Sellers was greatly respected by both my parents as well as my sisters Wilma and Carole.

I deeply regret that I will be in Atlanta on business the weekend of her memorial service and would like to convey my condolences to the entire Sellers Family at this time of their earthly loss. Yet at the same time, I rejoice in Mrs Sellers going to be with her Savior, knowing how much she loved Him, having lived her life so faithfully for Him.

    Respectfully,

  10. To the Sellers family,
Our hearts and prayers go out to you at this time.
In our own recent losses of Evelyn Gatlin and Debbie Russell it’s nice to know they are all laughing together again in Heaven. I can’t wait to see them all again. God has a wonderful crew!
I use to stop in the store on my way home from school just to say hello to Mrs. Sellers. She always was sweet to me and always smiling.
God Bless you all at this time.
    The Gatlin’s

  11. Tommy, we are so sorry to hear about your mother. We knew that the last couple months have been especially difficult for her but it’s still hard to let go. Know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  12. I first visited Sellers Coin Shop as a young boy with my mother. This became a ritual almost every week as I added to my collection through the years while spending time in the friendly, warm enviroment of the shop. I so fondly remember Mr. Sellers and of course Mrs. Sellers, they were wonderful hard working people. I remember how on Saturdays the shop would close early and Mrs. Sellers would always thoughtfully take the weekly Coin World paper next door for me so that I could get it later in the day. I remember once admiring the deer antlers that were hanging on a back wall of the shop; Mrs. Sellers quietly whispered ‘we didn’t kill it’. And of course I knew she hadn’t!
I will miss those times, but I know that Mrs. Sellers is with Jesus now.

  13. Dear Sellers Family and loved ones, Mary Sellers was a perfect example of a Christian woman and Mother to her children. So many memories of her, working with the youth group and teaching Sunday school at Asheville Wesleyan, she always had time to listen and help in every way possible. When Jerry and I were first married, (we were very young)she gave Jerry a job working on Sears contracts roofing houses. She knew how badly he needed to work and was having difficulty finding a job, she helped us. We had a play in Youth group that required the use of robes. She brought some of hers, I found Tommy’s baby bracelet from the hospital in the pocket and she was so happy. When her children were young and came up to her at church to say something, she always stopped and gave them her undivided attention. That was an example I tried to follow. Mary’s life was an example for all of us. God bless her memory.

  14. My dearest cousins:
Our loss is heaven’s gain. Aunty Mary was al ways my role-model. She was everything a woman could be and more. Mother, wife, grandmother, aunty but most of all Christian. How I cherish the times I spent in North Carl. Going to the races and watching Ted race. Visitng the castels with Uncle Paul and Uncle Milton. Having the carpenters in the cabin shop make swords for us. The kickball games in the yard. The hours I spent under Aunty Marys tutelage teaching me to ‘type’. Feeding the bear dogs. Putting holes in coke tops and shaking them up and squiritng each other. But most of all I remeber Aunty Mary forbiding us to purchase anything on Sunday as this was the Lords day. She really is not gone but just away. Rejoice in the fact one day on the other side we shall see her again. Vayo con Dios siempra. Nanci

  15. I am so sorry for your loss. I have fond memories of speaking with Miss Sellers while visiting the coin shop with my grandfather, Bud Davis. She was always so sweet and stopped whatever she was doing to speak with us.

I truly am saddened to know of Ms. Seller’s departure from this old earth. She is now residing with Mother and all of those who have gone before her to now live with Jesus. If there ever was a saint on this earth I truly know that Mary Sellers was one. She has touched many lives over the years and because of the way she lived her life she will be among those who she has touched. I truly know that Mother is very happy to see her as she always loved Ms. Sellers. You all are in our prayers and our thoughts.

  27. Mary was a good neighbor when we had a grocery store right beside her.She will be truly missed.

  28. Dear Tony, Doris, Danny and Tommy,
I am so sorry to hear of the death of your Mother/Grandmother. Seems like yesterday when we all were kids playing in the neighborhood; and of course we cannot forget Brownie and Trixie and all of their ‘kids.’ I loved going into the coin shop and looking at all of the things she had there – so much to look at. To this day, when I wear my pearls, I think of Mary Sellers. I was wearing them one time and she made the comment how much she loved pearls and that she liked mine. She told me to ‘be sure and not get perfume on them.’ What precious family memories we have had together over the years. Mary is now at peace, and in Heaven with Paul, Ted and David – what a reunion they are having. My thoughts, prayers and love are with all of you.

  29. To all of the Sellers family I wanted you to know that I never knew anyone in my life that was sweeter, kinder and so much like I imagined Jesus to be. Seeing her every Sunday at church was always a given and she hugged me and spoke to me every time. She meant a great deal to the Cordell family and she always will. We will pray for you during this time, but just remember that she is with Jesus now and those in your family that went before. I love all of you – Sharon Cordell Dicus

  30. My deepest sympathy to the Sellers boy’s.I always enjoyed my good times in the summer in Ashville with Aunt Mary and uncle Paul. Hope I can live up to her name as I was named after her.
