Mary Lou Hamilton Rodney, 103, of Asheville died Saturday, December 20, 2025 at the Givens Estates Health Center.
She was born in Magnolia, NC on January 31, 1922 to Samuel and Eva Hamilton. She was the wife of Earnest Rodney whom she married on March 25, 1943.
Mrs. Rodney was the oldest member of Biltmore Baptist Church and the Homemakers and the Golden Rule Sunday School Classes. She was a member of the card ministry team.
Mrs. Rodney was proud to be a “stay-at-home” wife and mother. She was a loving and much-loved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, a wonderful homemaker, an accomplished seamstress, sewing clothes for the entire family, a crafter in needlework, dollmaking, and basketry, and a flower gardener.
Mrs. Rodney is survived by her daughter, Donna Rodney Habermann (Bruce), of Asheville, her grandson, Matthew Cox (Toni), of Crozet, VA, her granddaughters, Ellie Cox of Charlotte and Julia Cox, of Crozet, VA and her son, Robert Rodney, of Asheville.
She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Eva Hamilton, her husband, Earnest Rodney, her granddaughter, Reagan Rodney Reed, and her sisters, Margaret Bell (Angus), Susie Carter (Clayton) and Carolyn Reid (Bill).
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, December 28 in the Chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian, conducted by Reverend Kelvin Moseley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, the funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM and interment will follow at Calvary Episcopal Churchyard.
