A native of Buncombe County she was a daughter of the late Furman Fletcher and Florence Austin Duckett. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Self and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Self Penley of Asheville; four granddaughters and their husbands, Margo and Calvin Easter of Hendersonville, Tarsha and Jerry Neal of Etowah, Sonya and Kirk Wieneke of Cleveland, TN and Tia and Don Taylor of Charlotte; four great-grandsons, O’Neal and William McCall, Robbie Neal and Austin Wieneke and one great-granddaughter, Casey Jean Taylor.
Services will be at 2:00 pm Monday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Derrill Smith officiating. Burial will be in Jarrett Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
