Marilyn Claeson Scroggs

Marilyn Claeson Scroggs, 85, died on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
A native of Topeka, KS, and raised in Denver, CO, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Carl and Ruth Bronson Claeson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alois “Jack” Scroggs, and a daughter, Jacque Ann Rector.
Mrs. Scroggs, with Mr. Scroggs, were charter members of Bethany Baptist Church, in Brevard. She earned her nursing degree at age 55 and was the Valedictorian of her Blue Ridge Community College class. She retired from the Brevard office of Hendersonville Pediatrics.
She is survived by seven of her eight children, Andrew, Michael (Nancy), Kenneth (Cathy), Steve (Melinda), Debi Lunsford (Jimmy), Marcia Beal (Allen), and Bob (Linda); 16 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
The memorial service for Mrs. Scroggs will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 26, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery Chapel, Black Mountain. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the cemetery.

Thank you, Judy, for your kind words. Mom loved singing and playing the piano. She even wrote a song “White Are the Fields Unto Harvest” for a missions conference while our family attended Temple Baptist Church on Patton Avenue. Thank you again!
