Marie Joyce Burton, 53, of 5 Farm Estate Road, Leicester, died Monday, March 18, 2002, at her home.
Mrs. Burton was born in Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Turner R. Joyce, Jr. She was a registered nurse.
Surviving are her husband, Frank Burton; one daughter, Tina Hill Fountain and her husband Todd of Asheville; one son, Matthew Hill and his wife Jennifer of Candler; two grandchildren, Joseph Fountain and Alexis Fountain; her mother, Carol Ardeeser of Murphy; four sisters, Mary Alice Ramsey of Fairview, Connie Joyce Pegg of Asheville, Nancy Joyce Safrit of Chapel Hill and Sharon Joyce Gates of Leicester; and two brothers, Robert Joyce of Asheville and Roger Joyce of Winston-Salem.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Revs. Joey Burton and Jay Blankenship officiating. Burial will be at Snow Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7 - 8:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.

I was sorry to hear of Marie’s death. She was one of my favorite nurses to work with on the Mother-Baby Unit at Mission Hospital. She was always ready to give a helping hand, smile, and encouragement to a new nurse as I was at the time.

I was very saddened to hear of Maries death,she will be missed as we have missed her at work since she first got sick. I have thought of her often and missed working with her on the Mother/Baby unit.
