Margaret Reed Penland, 82, of 32 Pearl Street, Asheville, died Sunday, February 12, 2006, at Memorial Mission Hospital.
Mrs. Penland was born in Shelby and was a daughter of the late Jack H. and Lora Deweese Reed. She was a member of Woodfin Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Bryan E. Penland; one daughter, Rose Dixon and her husband, Mike, of Fairview; one son, Kenneth Bryan Penland and his wife, Alice Faye, of Wilmington; three grandchildren, Ashley Penland, Steven Dixon, and Jan Dixon; three sisters, Myra "Winky" Burris of Arden, Hulda Hunnicutt of Benson, and Lucia Sandholzer of Pompano Beach, FL; and one brother, Welzie D. Reed of Asheville.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Whitted officiating. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery.
Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the fuernal home.

to my beautiful Aunt Margaret it’s been 8 years and I miss you and love you and thank you for all your wonderful teachings I went to church today and I went up to the Altar and I thought of you and how you taught me so many things about the Lord and it’s carried me through my entire life my condolences to Rose and Faye and face beautiful daughter for the loss of their father and her husband and her brother my hearts go out to all of you I’ll pray for Rose and all her family have peace and love may all of us serve the Lord as number one and we’ll all be in Heaven someday together
