Margaret DeLeyer Doyle

Asheville - Margaret DeLeyer Doyle,(1926-2013), formerly of Mountain Lakes, New Jersey, died peacefully at her residence at Givens Estates in Asheville on Saturday, November 16, 2013. Margaret "Peggy" Doyle was born August 10, 1926 to Francis and Helen DeLeyer, and graduated from Mountain Lakes High School and nursing school at Jersey City Medical Center. Before her marriage in 1948, she worked as a hospital nurse in Jersey City, New Jersey. Raised in Mountain Lakes from birth, she raised her two children there as well. She loved to play duplicate bridge, and became a Life Master in 1978. She taught bridge and continued to play in tournaments for many years. She and her husband retired to Beaverdam Run in Asheville before moving to Givens Estates. Peggy Doyle was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters Ellen DeLeyer and Mary DeLeyer Becker, and her husband James Patrick Doyle. She is survived by her daughter, Jacqueline Doyle and husband Stephen Gutierrez of Castro Valley, California; her son, Steven Doyle and wife Debra Dickson, of Evansville, Wisconsin; and her grandson Benjamin Doyle Gutierrez of Castro Valley, California. Memorial donations in memory of her beloved husband, mother, and sister can be made to the American Cancer Society or Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
