Marcia Hilbert Merritt

Marcia Hilbert Merritt, 89, of Candler, NC, died on Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Pisgah Manor Health Care Center. A native of Middleport, OH, Mrs. Merritt was a daughter of the late Gene Robert and Mary Louise Powell Hilbert. Mrs. Merritt was raised in Cincinnati, OH, and was a graduate of Withrow High School. She was later a longtime resident of Oxford, OH, where she worked for over 20 years in the Personnel Department of Miami University. Mrs. Merritt enjoyed spending her free time knitting, cross-stitching, and reading. She is survived by her daughter, Candace M. Williams and husband Bill, of Candler; son, Steve Merritt and wife Marsha, of Troy, OH; sisters, Janet Collopy, of Cincinnati, and Phyllis Townsley and husband Jerry, of Mason, OH; grandchildren, Lt. Col. David Merritt and wife Erin, Kristen Merritt, Sarah Klaben and husband Jeff, and Jonathan Merritt and wife Lisa; and seven great-grandchildren. A graveside service for Mrs. Merritt will be held on Sunday, June 1, at 2:00 at Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati. T.P. White and Sons Funeral Home is assisting her family in Ohio.
