Lucy Kwiatkowski Young

Lucy Kwiatkowski Young, 89, of 228 Richmond Hill Dr., Asheville, died Monday, June 9, 2008, at Park Ridge Hospital. A native of Chelsea, MA, Mrs. Young was a daughter of the late Boleslaw and Valentina Kaminska Kwiatkowski. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann Chance; sister, Adelle Piatek; and brother, Edward Kitoski. She was a member of the Ladies Fleet Reserve Association, and a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church. Mrs. Young is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joe Henry Young, Jr.; son, Joseph William Young and wife Betty, of Cummings, GA; son-in-law, Dennis Chance, of Asheville; grandchildren, Jennifer Hope Sewell and husband Scott, Kristin Leigh Young, Brian Young Chance and wife Michelle, and Alison Nicole Chance; great-grandson, Ayden Jeremiah Chance; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Thursday at St. Eugene's Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Francis T. Cancro officiating. Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery. Her nephews will be serving as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Eugene's Catholic Church, 72 Culvern St., Asheville, NC 28804. Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.
