Lloyd Doyle Ward, 81, of Candler, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023.
A native of Jackson Co., NC, Lloyd was the son of the late Verlin James and Ella Lee Brown Ward. Mr. Ward was a longtime member and Deacon at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Sluder Ward. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 11, 2023. He is also survived by daughter, Kim Austin (Kenny); son, Dwight Ward (Amy); grandchildren, Emily Early (Taylor) and Jeffrey Ward (Sara); and many other family members.
Mr. Ward’s family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will be held the next morning at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Mike Freeman and the Revs. Paul Sluder and David Scruggs will officiate. Interment will then follow at Crossroads Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
