Asheville Butterfly TrailMrs. Linda Young Burcham, born on March 19, 1944, in Mitchell County, North Carolina, to Mae Hensley Young and Harley Richard “Hal” Young, passed away at the age of 81 on February 18, 2026, at her home in Fairview, North Carolina with her husband and daughter by her side.
Linda attended East Yancey High School and AB Technical College where she achieved her goal of dietitian.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mae and Hal Young, ex-husband Buddy Wade Hollifield, her son Nelson “Neil” Wade Hollifield, daughter in law Gloria Rouse Hollifield and daughter in law Sharon Brandy Stephenson Burcham.
She is survived by her loving husband Robert William “Bob” Burcham of the home; son Robert JoWilliam “Joey” Burcham of Fairview, NC; daughter Sonya Hollifield Rowland and her husband Keith of Leicester, NC; granddaughter Michelle Wolfrey and her husband Tommy of Leicester, NC; granddaughter Latonya Moss and her husband Scotty of Gainesville, FL; brother Harley Eugene Young and wife Lorraine of Chester, Va; brother Byrl Wayne Young and his wife Nina of Swannanoa, NC; grandchildren Robert X. “Zane” Burcham, Sharon X. “Zoe” Burcham, Sophia A. Rowland (John Washburn), Riley A. Rowland (Brenna Banks), Cody L. Wolfrey, TJ Wolfrey, Jacob W. Wolfrey, Alexis M. Crum, and Aneilya L. Crum; and dear friends and many nieces and nephews that she adored and loved very much.
Linda enjoyed her friends and family. She always loved spending time at the lake with her friends, children and grandchildren. She loved cooking for big family events. And everyone loved for her to do just that. She was a wonderful cook. She spent many years travelling and exploring the US making new friends wherever she went. She also loved spending time singing and listening to hymns sung with her church family. When she could no longer make it to church, they came to her. That was one of her greatest comforts.
A Celebration of Life will be at Spring Mountain Baptist Church in Fairview, NC on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at 1pm.

♥ Mommy passed at 4am on 2/18/2026. She saw paradise wide eyed and smiled. I told her we loved her, she was safe and it was ok to go. She didn’t need any permission because what she saw was so great…. Her Seiko clock started playing a tune and she slipped way. 💕
Bob and family, so sorry to hear of the passing of Linda. She has been in my prayers. Prayers for your family that God will give you peace and comfort that she is with our Precious Lord and there is no more suffering. Keeping all of you in my prayers.
