Born in: Miami, FL
Resided in: Fairview, NC

Linda Lou Haas Honey, age 78, went home to heaven on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

Daughter of Betty Lou (Roberts) and Lamont Daniel Jeremiah “Monty” Haas, Linda was born in Miami, Florida. Linda was just six months old when her father was killed in service to our country in World War II. Two years later, she was blessed with a wonderful stepfather, Walter Lewis Shaw, who joined Betty Lou and all four of Linda’s beloved grandparents in raising her. She graduated from Miami Norland Senior High School in 1962. Linda fulfilled one of her childhood dreams when she became a nurse. Her compassionate and skillful care was a comfort to many in her long nursing career. Later in life, she was delighted to share her musical gifts in service to the Lord as choir director, pianist, and member at Moore’s Grove United Methodist Church in Hendersonville, North Carolina.

Raised in a faithful Christian family, Linda accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior with all of her 8-year-old heart and her faith grew with her, carrying her through every aspect of her life to the very end. Second only to this, her greatest joy was being a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an adventurous and creative soul. Her cheerful warmth, enthusiasm, interest in others, and generosity in every way were inspiring to her children and to so many others she had met in her life. She had a free spirit with the love of Jesus in her heart. She was gentle and kind, thoughtful and always forgiving. She knew how to love unselfishly and took every opportunity to show it.

This legacy of love remains. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, five children (and their partners): Robin (Mike) Beamish, Scott Milburn, Terri (David) Koestler, Timothy (Genell) Allmond, Jennifer Cabrera (Samuel Ortiz); thirteen grandchildren: Damien Milburn (Hailey), Mike (Irene) Beamish II, Melissa Knowles (Calvin), Mathew Beamish, Maia Milburn, Ariana Milburn, Kurt Koestler, Ava Koestler, Selah Allmond, Noah Allmond, Noble Allmond, Cana Allmond, Alexander Cabrera; three great-grandchildren: Joshua Keenan Milburn, Mike Beamish III, Jordan Beamish; brother, Walter Thiel Shaw; sister, Crystal Shaw Geng; dear friend, Aunt Dottie Haas; dear family friend, Randall H. Dees; many beloved nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Moore’s Grove United Methodist Church at 2553 Chimney Rock Road in Hendersonville, NC on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Visitation will begin at 1:00 with the service at 2:00. Burial will follow immediately after the service in the church cemetery.

Guestbook

  1. My momma , my bestfriend. I will miss you everyday of my life here until I see you again in Heaven. Love, your baby girl

  2. I only had one opportunity to share time and space with you, and that was at my father, Dr. Fred Haas’ memorial service. You played the piano and I remember how much it brought back memories of my mom playing in the early morning hours of my childhood. Thank you, Linda, for the joy and warmth you brought to my dad’s and Dottie’s lives. I know they cherished the time with you. Say hi to my family when you get to heaven.

  3. To Moore’s Grove Church and Linda’s family, I’m so sorry to hear of her passing, but know she’s well and rejoicing with her Lord! With my love, sympathy and prayers

  4. To the family and friends of this precious lady. May the memories you hold in your heart bring warmth during this time. I know she loved each of you with a sincere love…a love that runs forever…
love you much and praying for comfort…
