Kathelene Smith Arthur, 99, of Asheville, died Friday, March 8, 2013.
A native of Madison Co., she was a daughter of the late Ballard and Pearl Thomas Smith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, John Evans "Sandy" Arthur. She was the oldest living member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Asheville.
Mrs. Arthur is survived by her niece, Patsy O'Donnell, with whom she made her home; sister Marie Dillingham of Asheville; brother James Smith of Leicester; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Green Hills Cemetery, with the Rev. Rodney Hagans officiating. At other times the family will be at the home.
Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. is assisting the family.

Sorry to hear about Kathlene. Have lots of fond memories of her growing up. Thought and prayers to Marie,James and Patsy.
What a sweet tribute to Aunt Kathelene the service was today. She was one special lady! Our whole family and the Trinity family has wonderful memories of her loving to cook, sew,and just be with family and friends. Patsy, you helped her live these last years with grace in being at home just where she wanted to be. Bless you and yours for taking such dear care of her.
I remember Mrs Arthur very sweet and kind lady always had a smile she will be missed by her friends and family .God bless each and everyone of you .
I will miss kathleen. I have fond memories of visiting her and sandy. My great grandmother was mrs hutchins (pearl’s sister). I know i will see her one day.
