Julia Waldrop Brookshire, 88, died Sunday, February 12, 2012, at the John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. Mrs. Brookshire was born in Anderson, SC, and was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Lena Belle Reid Waldrop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Furman Riley Brookshire and a daughter, Sharon Dedman. She was a former resident of the Westmont Commons Apartments on Leicester Highway and was a member of Starnes Cove Baptist Church. Mrs. Brookshire is survived by three daughters, Barbara B. Bennett and husband, Winston, Susan Ingle, and Judy O'Dette; nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Starnes Cove Baptist Church with the Rev. Charlie Sams officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery. Her grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Her family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave., and at other times will be at Westmont Commons Apartments, Building 300, apartment #202. Flowers will be appreciated or memorials may be made to Starnes Cove Baptist Church, 149 Starnes Cove Road, Asheville, NC 28806.

  6. Mom, I miss you so much and I wish you were here but at last you are in heaven where you will no longer be in pain. You will get to be with Grandmother, Bill, Dorothy Al, Sharon and many more who have gone before you. I am sure it was a very happy reunion. I believe you will always be watching over us as we try to carry on withoiut you. It will be hard but we will see other again in Heaven.     This is for my Mamaw who passed away Sunday as I held her hand. She was a good woman, friend, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She will be missed by many.   10. Judy we are sorry for your loss we always feel empty when a loved one departs but it is great Julia lived 88 years and had a full life. May you soon be able to forget the sorrow of her passing and remember the joyous times you shared together.
