ASHEVILLE - Judith “Judy” Anne Worley Pate, 76, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 4, 2017 at her residence, after an extended illness. She was surrounded by her loving family. A native of Haywood County she is the daughter of the late Clifford and Artha Gentry Worley. She worked as a nurse in Buncombe County before retiring. She was a loving wife, loving mother and loving grandmother. Survivors include her husband of fifty-five years, George Lewis Pate; son, Terry Pate of Black Mountain; daughters, Janet Lyles and Tamra Price, both of Swannanoa; grandson, Cameron Lyles who was her pride and joy; brother, Willard Worley of Swannanoa; sisters Ruth Payne (Glen) and Sarah Phillips (Dennis) all of Candler; sister-in-law, June Watkins of Fletcher; nephew, Jeff Payne of Clayton and niece, Tina Robinson of Black Mountain. A funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Shehan will officiate and burial will follow. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Care Partners Hospice Home Care, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC, 28813.   3. Our hearts ache for each of you in the family. Judy was one fine lady, and we were guests in her home several times. She had a lovely smile, as well as a loving and caring heart. Cousin George loved to tease her, and she always had a come-back. We loved her dearly, and our prayers and thoughts are with you. May God truly bless you in this time of sorrow.   5. I have such good childhood memories of Judy. She was so good to me when I would come to her house to play with Janet. I’ll miss her being there on the hill. Praying for all of you at this difficult time.

  6. So so sorry to hear this. I was her Dental Hygienist and she was such a sweet lady. I just saw this on fb. Don’t know what to say. Very sad.

  9. So often, life takes us to places where we loose touch with people who we care about, but I never forgot Judy. She was always kind to me and a wonderful person to be around. I know for sure she is in a better place now and being a caregiver on the other side. I will truly miss her kindness and goodness she carried. My life was better because I was fortunate to have known her. My sincere sympathy to all the family. I know she will be missed.

  11. Janet, Tamra, Sarah, Ruth & the rest of the family, my heart goes out to each of you during this difficult time. I had hoped I would be able to attend the service but unfortunately can’t. Know that I’ll be there in spirit. Judy was so special. I still her giggle! We had good times at Asheville Head, Neck & Ear! Prayers will go with you in the days ahead.
