Juanita Grindstaff Smith, 85, daughter of the late Hoy and Mary Thomas Grindstaff, was born October 23, 1926 in Mitchell County, North Carolina. She departed this life at her home in Wideman, Arkansas on Monday, October 22, 2012.
In 1945 she married Blake P. Smith and she retired from American Enka after 13 years of employment. She attended Oxford Baptist Church in Oxford, Arkansas. She was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Candler.
Juanita is survived by six sons: Sammy Smith and wife Sue of Candler, NC, Reed Smith of Wideman, Arkansas, Phillip Smith and wife Janet of Candler, Kenneth Smith of Wideman, Arkansas, William Smith and wife Joyce of Weaverville, and Edward Earl Smith and wife Trina of Candler; two daughters: Diane Brackett and husband Foy of Fletcher and Darlene Frisbee of Alabama; twelve grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two brothers: Ray Grindstaff and Cloyd Grindstaff; three sisters: Mable Pressley, Ada Wetstein and Arizona Pressley and one granddaughter: Marie McCarson.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Winebarger officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., prior to the service.

I am so sorry for your loss. Aunt Juanita was always Bill’s favorite aunt, he told us so many stories about his days he spent with her family. He loved ‘Homney’ Vally and he loved eacnceh of you. I wasn’t able to come due to sickness. Just getting over back surgery. You are all inmy thoughts and prayers. May God be with you since you have lost your ‘best friend.’
