Joe Henderson McCormack, Jr., 80, of Caleb Dr., Candler, died Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his home.
A native of Saluda, NC, he was a son of the late Joe H. McCormack, Sr., and Jennie Louise Hopkins McCormack, and step-son of the late Rudolph Alonzo.
Mr. McCormack was a Veteran of the U.S. Army. He was also a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Mr. McCormack is survived by his wife, Juanita Hancock McCormack; sons Joe McCormack, III, and wife Margaret, Kenneth McCormack and wife Elizabeth, and David McCormack; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren, who he loved very much.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Rev. Rodney Hagans officiating. His family will receive friends following the service at the church.
Interment will be Monday, January 14, 2013, at 2:00 p.m., at the Western Carolina State Veteran's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 587 Haywood Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.

How saddened I was to learn of Joe’s death. This has not been a good 12 months for Trinty UMC. I think there have been 7 deaths…My Mom and Dad among them.
I remember with pride and joy serving as Den Chief for the Cub Scouts when you were a den mother…several years ago. I would have such a good time with your boys and the others at your home.
I hope you will find comfort in the knowledge that others care and share in your loss. Well done, thou good and faithful servant.
