Arden- JoAnn Bowen, 86, of Arden, died Thursday, September 29, 2022 at her residence.

A native of Delrio, TN, she was a daughter of the late James and Elsie Dockery Raines. JoAnn was also preceded in death by her husband Hoyle C. Bowen, who died in 2004, as well as a sister Ruth Raines and three brothers, David, Gene and Roscoe Raines.

JoAnn was a long-time member of Fletcher First Baptist Church and was retired from Eaton Corp. after more than 20 years of service. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family which she cherished.

JoAnn is survived by her two sons, Don Bowen (Robin) of Elkin, NC and Dennis Bowen (Glenda) of Fletcher; three sisters, Joyce Lance of Fletcher, Loree Anderson (Joe) of Charlotte, NC and Sandy Ledford (Clyde) of Inman, SC; four granddaughters, eight great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at Fletcher First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family graciously asks that you consider making a contribution in JoAnn’s memory to either the Shriners Children’s Hospital or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
