Arden – Jerry Keith Jenkins, 57, of Meadows Circle, died Saturday, June 30, 2007, in the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center.
Jerry was born in Buncombe County and graduated from North Buncombe High School and received a Bachelors degree in Building/Architecture from Cecil’s Business College. He moved to Hartselle, AL and then to Decatur, AL where he was the owner of Hearthstone Construction. He also was a member of the Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Home Builders Association of Morgan County, AL.
Jerry returned to Arden four years ago and has been a consultant for “Lifestyle Homes of Distinction” for Bruce Alexander.
Jerry is survived by his mother, Dot Jenkins Elingburg of Arden; his father, Lawrence Jenkins and his wife, Mable, of Asheville; his daughter, Regina Jenkins of Asheville; two sons, Brent Jenkins of Alabama and Eric Jenkins of California; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jonathan, Abbie, Tyler, Joseph and Alyssia. He also is survived by his sister, Jane Banks and her husband, Jerry, of Swannanoa and a niece and nephew, Whitney and Joshua Banks.
He was an excellent father, always taking time to enjoy hunting and golf with his boys. His family loved him dearly and will always miss him and his smile.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Monday in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian conducted by the Rev. Ebb Jenkins and the Rev. Dr. Ian Walker. Interment will follow in Shepherd Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Bob Penland, Bill Roberts, Bob Nesbitt, Ed Dillard, Don Hendrix and Bill Cordell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Don Jackson, Bruce Alexander, Bill McIntosh, Howard Massengill, Bill Jenkins, Arthur Jenkins and Joel Burkhalter.
His family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home on Long Shoals Road.
