Ralph “Jerry” Wayne Gosnell, 76, of Alexander, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at the CarePartners Solace Center.
Born October 13, 1947 in Madison Co. and a lifelong resident of Buncombe Co., Jerry was a son of the late Geneva Presnell Taylor. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Guy Taylor.
Jerry loved his family, his wife and his children, but all who knew him knew that music was his passion. He started making music at the age of 10 and actively enjoyed music all his life. He played guitar, violin, bass and drums. He played with the group “Hardtimes” for eight years, and was a former member with his wife Tanya of the TLC Band. Jerry played venues and clubs all over the southeast in the Southern Comfort Band and most recently with his wife and close friends in The Little Creek Band.
Jerry was retired from the City of Asheville, where he was Assistant Superintendent of the Public Works Department.
Surviving is his wife of 42 years, Tanya Collins Gosnell; daughters, Carrie Gosnell and Justineé Gosnell; son, Tyler Wayne Gosnell; grandchildren, Autumn, Jude and Marley; sisters, Sandra Olsen and Sue Voyles; and a brother, Denny Taylor.
A celebration of life will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.

I was sorry to hear of Jerrys passing. Music was his passion as was Bill’s. What a wonderful Heavenly band they are playing in together ❤️.
