Born May 21, 1941 in Yancey County, Mr. Young was a son of the late John Porter Young and Susie Jackson Young. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Jackie Bailey, Anita Adell and Milton Young.
Mr. Young is survived by his wife, Marilyn Robinson Young; children, James Gregory Young (Bianca), Diane Young Wilson, Kimberly Ann Young (Antoine), and Kevin Porter Young (Michelle); grandchildren, Bryce Hazel, Azura Gregory and Maria Taylor; bonus grandson, Colby Reagan; great-grandson, Zyheim Ponders; and sisters, Betty Ream and Carolyn Owens.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1 in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Swatzell officiating.
The family will greet friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
