James Lester Boone, 52, passed away on November 18, 2024.

An Asheville native, James was the son of JoAnn Singleton Boone (Bill Rathbone) and the late Earl Boone.

James loved to fish and hunt, and loved to cheer on his Buffalo Bills. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Boone is survived by his daughter, Mariah Boone (Derick Morgan); son, Caleb Boone; siblings, René Boone, Randy Boone and Carrie McKinney (Mike); girlfriend, Amie Edwards; granddaughters, Addison and Josie Morgan; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins that James dearly loved.

The Celebration of James’ Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 25, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. Pastors Allen Rash and John Burke, of Trinity Baptist Church, will officiate. His family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.

  7. It’s definitely sad to loose a life long friend!! As I told his mom yesterday we were definitely joined at the hip for many years with plenty of mischief and memories were made as we grew up. Then life happens and you grow apart!! Those who knew and ran around with James definitely had plenty of stories and laughter through the years!! He was a big hearted guy and a great friend, you will be missed James!!
