James “Jimmy” Curtis Dickerson, 78, of Barnardsville, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
A native of Buncombe Co., James was a son of the late Robert Thomas and Beatrice Shipman Dickerson. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly Nanette Dickerson, and wife, Maleta “DeeDee” Dickerson.
Mr. Dickerson was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired from Southern Concrete Materials.
Surviving is his daughter, Jill Gillespie (Jonathan); sister, Catherine Redmond; step-son, Paul Willis; grandchildren, Cameron, Mackenzie, Jacquelyn and Carlee; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Bobby Smith officiating.
Pallbearers will be Charles Gillespie, Harold Gillespie, Justin Gillespie, Brian Gillespie, Ryan Redmond and Tanner Redmond. Honorary pallbearers are Cliff Redmond and Chuck Redmond.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. 12:00 p.m. Friday at Groce Funeral Home, Patton Ave., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
