James "Jim" Baity Campbell

James Baity (“Jim” or “Rocky”) Campbell, age 85, passed away in his home peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 surrounded by family.
Jim was the middle of three children of Beatrice Baity Campbell and Harry S. Campbell. He was born in Asheville on June 30, 1937. Jim is survived by his brothers Sheldon (Pat), of Wilson NC and Charles (Carole), of Asheville.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Karen Harmon Campbell, who he loved dearly and was so proud of. He is survived by his two children: Russell S. Campbell and Denise C. Yarborough, and his four beloved grandchildren: Evelyn S. Yarborough, William G. Yarborough, Mary Carson Yarborough, and Margaret I. Campbell, all of Asheville, NC.
Jim graduated from Lee Edwards High School (Class of 1955], before attending Western Carolina University (Class of 1960), where he obtained a degree in Business Administration. His work ethic, and love of people contributed to long and successful career in sales and business.
To all who knew him, Jim was driven, hardworking, and loving. Jim was a true people person, who never met a stranger, and loved his family He enjoyed life at his lake house on Lake Keowee, where he patiently taught generations of family members how to water ski.
A celebration of life and funeral service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Mountain Care where Jim attended the Adult Program for the past few years and who make a difference to people who live with dementia and their families.

I am so sorry for your loss. You know how much both of your parents meant to me and I will forever cherish the memories of the good times spent with both of them.
Unfortunately, I won’t once again be able to be with you as you say goodbye to Rocky, but be assured that my thoughts are with both of you and your children at this difficult time.

Rocky was a special person and will be missed. We have wonderful memories of him and Karen. They were the best of the best. Our thoughts and prayers are with Russ and Denise and their families.
