Iris Radcliff McGhee

Iris Radcliff McGhee, 95, of the Givens Estates Community, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015. A native of Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Marshall and Virginia Knight Radcliff and wife of the late Charles McGhee. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Harwell and a brother, Morris Radcliff. Iris was a hairdresser in Morganton before going with the FHA in Washington, DC and retired from HUD in 1981, then returning to Asheville. She was a member of the Old Buncombe County Genealogical Society and of Arden Presbyterian Church. Iris is survived by a sister, Lattice Gager of Travelers Rest, SC; a brother Rex Radcliff of Bellingham, WA and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory and a memorial service at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Pulliam Chapel at Givens Estates. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Givens Resident Assistance Fund, 2360 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC 28803. Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian is assisting the family.
