Irene Constantine, 80, of Asheville, died Thursday, July 4, 2013, at her home. A native of Bingen, Germany, she was a daughter of the late Andreas and Elizabeth Cartas Massing. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Constantine. Mrs. Constantine moved to Asheville in 1994. She worked for Wal-Mart for 15 years. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Church of Asheville, Elisabeth Hoffman and husband Marty, of Shelton, CT, Sharon Coskery and husband Paul of Freeport, ME, Gloria DeForge and husband Tony of Asheville, and Shirley Brown and husband Jeff of Etowah; sons David Constantine of Ocala, FL, and Michael Constantine of Burnsville; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Adolf Massing, of Germany. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday in the Patton Ave. chapel of Groce Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends following the service.

  1. I recently read about the loss of your dear loved one. Although we are not acquainted personally please accept my condolences. Psalms 90:10 says ‘in themselves the days of our years are seventy years; and it’s because of special mightiness they are eighty years…’ Amazing! Cherish the memories and the times you shared.   9. We worked with Irene her entire Wal-Mart career. She is one of those ‘genuine’ people that you run across once in your life. We loved her so much and will truly miss her.

  10. Sorry for her passing also sorry for the fact I didn’t know her even though she is my gandmother and has 4 great grandkids she will never know
