Iona Ruth Young

Iona Ruth Richards Young, 85, died Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Fleshers of Fairview. Mrs. Young was born in Lancaster, PA, and was a daughter of the late James and Iona Emmanuel Richards. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward Young, Jr. (2011) and by a daughter, Nancy Ammons. She was a member of the Asheville Gospel Chapel. Surviving are her daughters, Laura Boone, Sara Brantley and Linda Beckmann; sons, Larry Young III, Nelson Young, and Paul Young; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Patton Avenue chapel of Groce Funeral Home with her grandson, Aaron Boone, officiating. Private interment will be at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
