Howard was a good man. I remember he was Assistant Chief when I was a volunteer at the Woodfin Volunteer Fire Department.

Dear Ellen,
We just read where Howard passed away. You have our deepest sympathy,in your loss. Seems like it is always the saddest around the holidays, but when the Lord calls them home, we have to let them go. We lost Shirley Dec. 12 but she had been wanting to go be with Earl ever since he passed away but she had a stroke on Dec. 11 so she got her wish. She had a good funeral & had a little smile on her lips. Again our sympathy.
I worked with Howard in the late 90s into early 2000 at Austin Powder. He was a wonder man that tucked me under his wing and taught me so much about the industry and was a good friend. You will be missed very much ole buddy. God speed.
You all are in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you the comfort you need during this time. We love you all!
Ellen, We were sorry to hear about Howard as you know the Sampson boys and Clement kids were more than cousins growing up together and spending a lot of time together. Howard was one of those few people that was liked by everyone who met him. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Madie, We were sorry to hear about your Dad. Thoughts and prayers for your family.
