Arden ~ Rev. Herbert Henry Nehlsen, 74, died Saturday, September 2, 2000.

Rev. Nehlsen was a native of Oak Park, IL and was the son of the late Henry James Nehlsen and Hulda Becker Nehlsen. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Rev. Nehlsen, along with his wife, Jessie, served with the Christian & Missionary Alliance for over 40 years in West Africa. Rev. Nehlsen was a member of the Christ Community Church, Fletcher, NC.

Rev. Nehlsen is survived by his wife, Jessie Ewing Nehlsen, of Arden; three daughters, Becky Nehlsen of Las Vegas, Nev.; Debbie Peck and her husband, Larry, of Rome, Italy; Judi Nehlsen of W. Palm Beach, Fla.; one son, Steve Nehlsen and his wife, Amy, of Ivory Coast, W. Africa; five grandchildren and one brother, Walter Nehlsen, of Wisconsin.

A memorial service will be conducted Saturday, September 9, at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Groce Funeral Home at Lake Julian. Rev. Darrell Weigelt and Rev. David Kennedy will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made for projects in Africa in care of the Christian & Missionary Alliance, P.O. Box 35000, Colorado Springs, CO 80935-3500, Attention: Herb Nehlsen, Memorial Fund.
